F&M Trust Sponsors Safe Harbour’s Annual Fundraising Appeal 2020

Safe Harbour’s Annual Appeal to the community has kicked off with a letter to supporters from F&M Trust’s President & CEO Tim Henry and Safe Harbour Board Chair Brad Gerlach. This year’s appeal is especially important due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the homeless community.

The appeal states, “The COVID-19 pandemic has touched all of our lives, but for the homeless individuals of our community, the effects have been devastating. Job losses, health concerns, and child care issues have impacted so many.  When you combine those challenges with homelessness, the situation seems insurmountable.”

Yet though the pandemic has impacted many areas of everyday life, Safe Harbour has continued to provide services to not only shelter those in need but work in new ways to also keep them safe and healthy. We have taken numerous actions, including closing our doors to non-essential visitors, increasing cleaning initiatives, and providing continuous health education on social distancing.  Additionally, Safe Harbour has forged new partnerships around health and safety to make this “new normal” the best living environment for our residents.

Our appeal is vital to this year’s fundraising goals as Safe Harbour was forced to cancel annual fundraisers that support our operations and replace vital grant funding which has been found to be unavailable; yet we see the need in our community rise exponentially.

The community waiting list for our services is more than 25 percent higher than this time last year. People who have never sought housing services have asked for assistance, especially large families with young children.

To inspire philanthropic giving, F&M Trust is once again providing a fundraising challenge to Safe Harbour donors. F&M Trust will donate:

  • A $1,000 gift to the Annual Campaign
  • An additional $2,000 gift to the Annual Campaign when 25 individuals or companies pledge to contribute $1,000 or more (including pledges made monthly by credit card)

Contributions can be made by:

  • Mailing donations to Safe Harbour, 102 W. High St. Carlisle, PA 17013-2972
  • Donations may also be securely made online via PAYPAL using your credit card. You do not need a PayPal account to make a donation! PayPal will email you a donation receipt. Simply click below and go directly to our PayPal page.
