As Safe Harbour’s fiscal year draws to a close on June 30, a very generous donor has issued a giving challenge to inspire the generosity of our contributors.
All donations made by June 28 will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000.
That’s a potential total of $50,000!
That’s $50,000 towards our mission to provide a continuum of housing and supportive services for homeless and nearly homeless individuals and families in our communities. So far in 2021-22, we have assisted nearly 127 people – children and adults – in our Short-Term Emergency Shelter, Long-Term Temporary Housing, and Permanent Housing programs. In addition to benefiting from safe and secure housing, these individuals have participated in educational and supportive service programs, including life skills training, parenting classes, and support groups. Our efforts have yielded important results as 16 residents have advanced to independent permanent housing in the community for themselves and their families.
Safe Harbour is helping people every day, but there are countless others still facing homelessness. Currently, there are 249 households awaiting services on the Cumberland County Coordinated Entry List. That number represents approximately 459 people; roughly 125 of whom are children, all in need of safe and stable housing. The needs of our clients continue to grow, not to mention the costs of providing our unique and life-changing services. That is why this unprecedented opportunity means so much to Safe Harbour and our residents.
