A Safe Place When It’s Needed Most

Safe Harbour’s Emergency Shelter program provides immediate, short-term housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Located in our repurposed hotel building in downtown Carlisle, our shelter offers a safe, supportive environment where residents can begin to stabilize their lives and take the first steps toward long-term housing. The facility is staffed 24 hours a day.

Short-Term Emergency Shelter

  • Five units for single women
  • Four family units
  • 90-day stay
  • Communal kitchen and bathroom facilities
  • Indoor play area
  • Access to a library and community room
  • Access to laundry facilities
  • Food, toiletries, and linens provided

Long-Term Emergency Shelter

  • 16 units for single women, men, couples, and families
  • One-year stay
  • A mix of single-room and family-unit spaces, each with a private bathroom
  • Each room includes a refrigerator and microwave
  • Access to a library and community room
  • Access to laundry facilities
  • Food, toiletries, and linens provided

Supportive Services

Our trauma-informed, housing-focused approach prioritizes dignity, stability, and rapid re-housing. We meet people where they are, without judgment, and walk alongside them on their journey to independence.

Beyond a roof and a bed, Safe Harbour provides wraparound support to help residents address the root causes of their homelessness and build a path forward.

Services Include:

  • Case management and individualized service planning
  • Assistance with securing permanent housing
  • Referrals to healthcare, mental health, and substance use treatment
  • Employment support and life skills coaching
  • Connections to childcare, education, and community resources
