Match Madness Yields Over $15,900 for Safe Harbour

Safe Harbour raised $12,650 in gifts with a “match” multiplier from the Partnership for Better Health and M&T Bank of $3348.88 to total $15,908.88 during this year’s Match Madness Event!

Throughout the month of March, 28 local nonprofit organizations participated in the annual matching gift campaign. This year a grand total of dollars raised was over $361,000!

The Match Madness campaign supports area nonprofits in raising core operating and program funds that are flexible to meet their needs. This year, the Partnership’s matching stretch pool grew to $75,000 with the generous support of M&T Bank.  For the 2019 campaign, the theme was growth. The total funds raised by community organizations grew by 22 percent and the total number of donors grew by 62 percent, with 853 contributors.

Area nonprofits collectively raised $286,908 during the annual Match Madness campaign held through the month of March.

When added to the $75,000 match pool, the grand total for this year’s effort increased to $361,908.

Now in its third year, Match Madness offers participating nonprofits a proportionate share of its stretch pool for the funds it raises during the campaign.

While Safe Harbour did not achieve our goal of $25,000 that would have been celebrated with our CEO, Scott Shewell jumping of an airplane, rest assured we will try again next year!

Acknowledging that we did meet more than half of our goal, and Safe Harbour excited to announce that this milestone will be celebrated in a similar way to thank our donors. Be sure to keep watching or social media for an update on Scott’s alternative “flying leap”!
